Deschutes County Search and Rescue Volunteers

Welcome to SAR, Inc. a non-profit, non- political 501c3 corporation. Our purpose is to promote and raise money to support search and rescue activities in Deschutes County and the State of Oregon. We are the volunteers of the Deschutes County Search and Rescue Unit who provide professional search, rescue, and recovery services free of charge to those in need.

Each year, the volunteer members that make up Deschutes County Search and Rescue need specialized training to continue to respond to those in need.  These members respond not only in Deschutes County, but also neighboring counties such as Crook, Jefferson, and Lane when called upon.  As you might be aware, the skills and training required to provide services for such large and varying terrains and areas take a great deal of man hours and funds.

In 2008, our volunteers logged a total of 14,376 hours.  Of these, 3,807.5 hours were in searches and rescues, and 3,766 hours were spent in training.  Our motto “Always Ready, So That Others May Live” is something that we strive for each day.
